I'm getting ready to go to college, and my roommate would like me to look for some cute and affordable ideas for decorating our room. We'd like things that involve using pictures/lights/anything to brighten up the space! I'd love to hear your creative ideas!

Right now many stores, like Target, Bed, Bath & Beyond, etc, are having dorm room promotions. In fact some of the stores advertise that if you buy online, you can have your choices sent to your dorm. That way you don't have to transport all that stuff from your place to your school. My personal suggestion would be to coordinate with your roommates so you don't wind up with duplicates or things that just don't go together. It might be wise to buy just a few things before you get there and then order more items once you're there and can actually check the space out.
